  • 08/24/09 — The Portland Creative Conference happens on Saturday September 12th and as today’s press release discusses, proceeds go to support arts education in Oregon through nonprofit fiscal agent Keeping the Beat.  The release announces the 2009 presenter line-up, featuring advertising legend Dan Wieden and Simpson’s writer/producer Bill Oakley who, along with other presenters across a variety of creative disciplines, will share their creative process with conference attendees.  The event serves to inspire, educate and network professionals from the full spectrum of Creative Industries.  To read or download the full Press Release click here
  • 08/21/09 — Keeping the Beat is proud to once again be the non-profit fiscal agent for the Portland Creative Conference, happening on Saturday, Sept. 12th at the Portland Center for the Performing Arts.  Proceeds will go to support K-12 arts education in Oregon.  > Learn more
  • 01/08/09 — Today Keeping the Beat announced details of the arts education programs that received cash distributions at the end of year as a result of proceeds from the 2008 Portland Creative Conference and 2008 American Roots Music Festival.  The grants include $2,000 to Caldera and $2,000 to the St. Helens School District Performing Arts Department.  Read the press release here.
  • 12/18/08 — The Keeping the Beat Board of Directors has approved and distributed cash grants of $2,000 each to Caldera, an arts education program for underserved Oregon youth in various communities, and the St. Helens High School Performing Arts Department.  The funds were generated via the Portland Creative Conference (aka Cre8Con).
  • 09/23/08 — Keeping the Beat has announced the headline performers for the 7th annual American Roots Music Festival, happening on Saturday, October 11th.  This event is a funderaiser for local school music programs and has distributed $24,500 in support of various programs since 2004. This year’s headliners at the 7:00pm show are the Black Swan Classic Jazz Band, an audience favorite from last year’s Festival, and True North, a Salem-area bluegrass band.   • 09/09/08 — The Portland Creative Conference, a project of Keeping the Beat, took place on Saturday, September 6th at the Portland Center for the Performing Arts.   The event featured eight keynote presenters from a variety of creative disciplines, including creatives from Nike, animation studio LAIKA, Dark Horse Comics, Michael Curry Design and ad agency Wieden+Kennedy.  Based on audience response and feedback, the event was a success!
  • 06/13/08 — Today the Keeping the Beat Board of Directors voted to support the Portland Creative Conference as a fiscally-sponsored nonprofit project of Keeping the Beat.  The Creative Conference planning committee and KTB leadership see strong alignment around supporting and celebrating creativity and the arts in a variety of forms.
  • 03/18/08 — A recent music program performed at the Sublimity School was made possible only by funds raised by the American Roots Music Festival and distributd by Keeping the Beat, according to music teacher Patty Keeton in an article in the Stayton Mail newspaper.
  • 02/01/08 — Keeping the Beat distributes a total of $10,000 to school music programs in the North Santiam, Cascade, Jefferson and Salem/Keizer School Districts with proceeds from the 2007 American Roots Music Festival, an event that has raised over $24,000 for rural Oregon school music programs so far.
